Jamestown Jaws Swim Club Head Coach 

The Head Coach will plan, direct, train, coach, manage and supervise Jaws Swim Club and coaching staff in a positive and proactive leadership role. The Head Coach is responsible for the overall management of Jaws Swim Club (including team dues, meet fees, website communication, meet entries, and all monetary transactions within the team). This position provides confidence and support to the club’s participants as well as encourages children to join the club. This position is responsible for communicating with the Jaws Board. This position will work toward USA Swim Club Level Recognition. This position will lead practices of at least one level of Jaws swimmers while supervising and overseeing Assistant Coaches.

 

The ideal candidate will bring energy, tenacity and a passion for swimming while communicating and advancing Jamestown Jaws Clubs' vision, mission and programming to the broader community. He or she will have a rounded set of competencies that places him or her ahead of the other candidates in the field including; leadership experience, interpersonal skills, self-management, personal accountability and customer focus.

 

Requirements:

• 2 years of experience in coaching, mentoring and training / teaching skills

•Meet all USA Swimming Coach Requirements

• Desire and ability to work with children.

• Familiar with USA swimming rules

• Superior written and verbal communication skills, together with highly developed interpersonal skills.

•Team Manager and website content experience. Experience not required, but preferable, preference will be given to candidates that have team manager and website content experience.

• Experience working with nonprofit boards.

•The ability to work flexible hours relative to the Clubs activities is a must.

 

Duties:

•Plan and attend all team functions; registration dates, team dinners, fundraising events, etc.

•Register club members with NDLSC (USA Swimming)

•Attend Board meetings (1 meeting per month) ~Give updates on team, request assistance

•Attend NDLSC meetings (2 meetings per year)

•Design State qualifier within budget (through Board Member)

•Plan practices (improving technique & endurance within season) Practice times May- August (7a-9a and 4-7p, Monday – Thursday) and September-March (6-8p, Monday - Friday)

•Communication ~Email parents (weather issues, updates, etc.)~Meet results ~Facebook Page Manager ~Website Manager (Wix) 

•Meets ~Register participating swimmers to respective meets ~Send lineups to parents ~Hand out ribbons ~work with individual swimmers for goal setting & time improvement ~Attend meets Jaws Club members are competing at (meets are usually held on Saturday & Sunday) ~Jaws Board will assist in home meet set-up ~submit result articles to Media outlets

•Hiring Assistants ~With the assistance as needed by the Jaws Board, this position will be responsible for hiring and evaluating assistant coaching staff.

•Attend Swim Coach specific continuing education
